Pilates / Yoga
Pilates and Yoga are great for correcting posture, strengthening core muscles, relieving pain from aching joints and relaxation.
As well as private (or semi-private) sessions at my well resourced home-studio, I also teach Pilates group classes in Titirangi on Monday and Thursday nights.
There are classes for beginners, those who are well seasoned in pilates and classes that are focused on rehabilitation. Not only are these classes great exercise and good company, they often end up being full of laughter.
My classes can be designed to suit any type of person and body. I believe that warming up and preparing the body to perform exercise and avoid injuries is important. The classes may also teach you how to feel what is right for you - if an exercise doesn’t feel good for you, it can be modified to suit you better. We all have different bodies and abilities so it is important to learn how to listen to your body to become aware of what exercises you can perform safely.
The classes are strongly based on Pilates and Yoga but I also incorporate other mind body connection integration movement such as Feldenkrais, Somatic and QiGong. Just as every day is different, I’m mindful or responding to different needs and approaches to suit the class on any given day.
At the end of each mat class we use Franklin Balls to activate the relaxation reflexes of the muscles and reflexology balls to stimulate pressure points, bringing WellBEing to your entire body.
I have also developed pilates classes for children, run out of my home studio for 30 minutes. Children must be aged 10 years or over. Session times are by appointment only, please contact me for more information or to book an appointment.
